[July News] The Tinkling Sound of Wind Chimes and a Cool Summer Café Break.

July marks the start of the full-fledged summer season.

In the historic streets of Hida Takayama, a refreshing season has arrived, with white summer clouds contrasting beautifully against the blue sky.
During this time of year, one of Takayama’s summer traditions you definitely shouldn’t miss is the “Sakurayama Wind Chime Festival” held at Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine. The countless wind chimes decorating the shrine grounds sway in the gentle summer breeze, producing a cool, soothing “ting, ting” sound. It’s a special, soothing spot unique to this season where you can experience the scenery of a Japanese summer with all five senses—a delight for both the eyes and ears. As you stroll through the historic townscape, immersing yourself in the refreshing resonance of the wind chimes, and work up a light sweat, be sure to take a pleasant break at a Takayama café.
Enjoy a drink that will quench your thirst, such as carefully brewed iced coffee or a special iced latte that highlights the rich flavor of locally sourced Hida milk. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you with refreshing drinks and warm hospitality.
